If parties reconcile their differences, they should advise their attorneys. Their pleadings can then be dismissed or held in abeyance, depending upon everyone’s wishes.

Marriage counseling can be pursued at any time during the proceeding without consequence, either through Family Court Services, an appendage of the Superior Court, or through independent counseling. Please note, however, that divorce cases are not routinely dismissed unless both parties instruct the court to do so.
